Casual adventuring: CSI: NY and Nancy Drew Dossier article:
Okay, so maybe I need to readjust my assessment of Nancy Drew's minigame difficulty. :D I did say there'd be cursing!

I'm on the second go-around of that smoothie mini-game and #@!@*%!#. It goes too fast. I need to give it another go, but I'm not up to it right now. I wish they had a "Skip" option for those mini-games. I've even resorted to looking for a "cheat code" to use.

I actually picked up a really cool boxset that included this game on dvd updated for newer systems, dreamfall, a soundtrack cd and an art book. Good gift from the gf. I have seen it floating around some GAME stores in the uk for £20, or the website has it for £15 with free delivery last time i checked. (Not an advertisement, just if anyone was curious or wanted to update from the cd version, which i cant get to work on xp...thank god for the dvd version)

Personally, I love this game. It's probably what really got me into the point & click adventure game genre, even though I had played and liked these kinds of games before. However, I've played it many times now, and I still find it really, really good. :) This is just one of many memorable moments.... :)

I wanted to add an anecdote: do you guys know what was my favorite sequence in TLJ? The Alatian Tales :D Believe it or not, I was so mesmerized by those characters that every single tale left me beguiled in front of the screen.

I played the demo. Beautiful graphics, excellent audio, pleasant bg music and very good English voices/acting.

An amazing game that was a true journey. Epic in length and story, i truely felt for the characters and what happened to them. A classic

Conquests of the Longbow: The Legend of Robin Hood article:
My all time favourite adventure! With all those differents paths to follow and such a great storytelling. And of course the opportunity to die, which I know is a pet peeve to many, but it fits this game perfectly and, I think, all deads are sensible. I even started to appreciate the pixie lately (after having found out in my 8th playthrough or so how to do that properly, used to take me hours), although I still jump up a little hearing that tune. And one of my favourite soundtracks as well, the medieval music style sets the mood perfectly. Have to say that I don't find it that repetetive, but I understand how some tunes can sound alike. Common themes I guess.

Longest Journey, The scene of the week:
Ah, the Longest Journey! Given that before playing this I had only played golden oldies (by Sierra and LucasArts and the likes) with less realistic graphics I was actually at first afraid that the (more) realistic graphics would keep me out of the magic of the game, which they didn't and what made me appreciate this type of graphics as well. I did find the game a little bit too easy though... I hope Dreamfall Chapters will be more like TLJ than Dreamfall...

I don't care what anyone says, TLJ is my favorite adventure game of all time. For some reason I just really connected with it personally - the storytelling, beautiful graphics (as shown in this scene), great voicework, and simple but [mostly] logical gameplay make it a homerun. I've played it through 4 times completely and I can't wait to play it again. I absolutely LOVE this game!

From what I remember TLJ came out in 1999 - the last great year of adventure games genre. Things started getting depressing right after TLJ has been released, so I fail to see its positive impact.

Ascovel, I tend to agree with your assessnent of this game: a disappointment given the hype. On the other hand, historically speaking TLJ is a tentpole game in the re-emergence of the graphic adventure. It did a lot to help revive a genre that most were calling dead, so for that it holds a special place in my heart.

Conquests of the Longbow: The Legend of Robin Hood article:
Excellent review, Andrea! This game is a real sleeper. It wasn't a high-profile title when it was released, but now that the dust has settled, I think many of us can agree that it was one of the finest games produced by Sierra. While remaining an Adventure at heart, this game definitely expanded the genre and succesfully incorporated a number of interactive elements to always give the player plenty to do. Just reading the review makes me want to dust off my floppies and fire up DosBox.

One of the very few games worth mentioning after the so-called golden age of adventures had come to pass. banner requires iframes
