Default Kyrandia 2 : RARE BOX EDITION

I own several copies of this and, quite honestly, cannot afford to buy anymore so heads up if you're a Kyrandia fan.

This box is VERY RARELY seen on eBay. It's the VERY original Kyrandia 2 US retail box release that Rick Parks painted with Zanthia on the magical spout in the sky with the gorgeous mountains in the background. It's extremely rare and the seller is selling it for only 40 bucks. Whoever grabs it first is getting an amazing deal!! AND he is including a SEALED hint book! OMG!

CHECK OUT THE AUCTION AND BUY IT QUICK!! THIS VERSION IS VERY RARE.

Why Westwood changed this amazing cover to the strangely designed one (shown here in my mockup at the top left) is a mystery but I suspect it had something to do with appealing to a more adult/puzzle crowd... I remember several game boxes designed in this strange style those few years. The top is the redesign, the middle is the European Kyrandia 2 cover (ugh!... but better than the redesign) and the bottom front is the very rare (and coolest) hand painted cover. So beautiful.

Here's a current auction for the redesigned box.. eh... nowhere near as fun.... and very common. NOT RARE.

and, of course I will post once again some amazing screenshots from this visual masterpiece!

I think I know who the buyer is.

So congrats to that person!

it's a beautiful and rare adventure game treasure. It really is. And it's a huge box. Here's another shot and a look at the also-rare Kyrandia 3 box from Europe.

That Malcolm box is many shades of awesome. I'm pretty happy with my Westwood anthology package with all three Kyrandia's in it.

Those screenshots make me want to play Hand of Fate again though. Fantastic game (though the system of creating magic spells gets confusing near the end!).

Isn't it cool? So much better than the US version which was rendered in 3D. (sheesh, inconsistent art director!!) Can't beat a hand drawn box illustration.

I always thought their talents were wasted on Dune and Command & Conquer series...
(the Westwood programmers and artists, to clarify)

Anyway, the rare box editions are much awesomer than what I have.

All the three Kyrandia games have absolutely beautiful cover arts.
And I mean the coolest cover arts that eriq is talking about.

I'd love to own everyone of them, but I never did. Only a White label version of Malcolm's revenge and a Soldout version of Hand of Fate.

Keep a look out for that Hand of Fate rare box. It pops up about once or twice every few months on eBay. When it does pop up, it will either go for quite a bit or for not much at all.

Looks like the rare box is up and in a 3 game auction!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/The-Legend-Of-Ky...QQcmdZViewItem

thought I'm not quite sure if the boxes are actually SEALED because the seller states they are but then says they've been played once or twice??? LOL. In any case, if the second game is sealed.. this is an amazing GEM!!

Yeah, I second that

Seriously, awesome though! I have the first game boxed with hint book, and I love it I need LOK2 sometime though.

Heh Erwin.. I made a play for it too. I wanted these for my daughter but some dude from South Korea who has spent hundreds (thousands maybe) of bucks on old PC games got us.
